Cablevision Shelf Bracket Installation Instructions

- 1. Taking the right measurements. Take appropriate measurements of the shelves or various displays to be suspended. Allow 1/4" additional space on each side of the shelf to make space for the thickness of the attachment. It is best to lay one shelf on the floor with its four attachments secured to it. The idea is to define the exact location of the bottom anchor. With a plumb line, make a mark on the ceiling where the top anchor will be secured.
- 2. Making sure the top anchor will be secured adequately. The ceiling may have to be reinforced. For concrete ceilings, you may use Tapcon screws. With drywall ceilings, toggle bolts will do for light duty. If you intend to suspend heavy items, adjust the dimensions of your displays so that you screw into beams, which will provide good support. In certain cases you will need to reinforce the ceiling with 3/4" plywood. With a suspended ceiling, mark the spot where the cable will go through the accoustical tile, remove the tile, and then use the plumb line again to check for structural support (concrete, beams, etc). The tile will be put back into place once the cable has been secured. Use common sense. Although the cable is tested to over 150lbs., the installer is responsible for securing the parts properly.
- 3. Attaching top and bottom pieces. Secure parts (1) and (2) to the ceiling and floor, respectively.
- 4. Tightening of the cables between anchors. The cable supplied is usually 13' long. Tighten part (3) to the brass top anchor. Adjust the little brass stopper (4) with the top of the base anchor (2). Tighten the set screws and cut the excess cable (5). The casing (6) will catch the thread of the bottom anchor (2). You can now screw the spring casing to the bottom anchor. By doing so, the spring will be compressed to assure a constant cable tension. Don't compress the spring too much.
- 5. Securing attachment to shelves or displays. Now you want to suspend the shelves. In the case of glass shelves with the A6 supports, you may fasten the clip directly on the shelf and then slide the shelf onto the cables anc screw in the set screw that will pinch the glass shelf.
- 6. Installing displays at the desired height. Set the height of the shelf before tightening the set screw. It is easiest to start with the bottom shelf, which you can set on top of a box so that you do not have to hold it while you slide the screws in. Work your way up sitting the box on the shelf below and so on.
