Cable Shelf Bracket Installation Instructions

Cable Shelf Bracket Installation Instructions
  • 1. (Starting with topmost diagram) Choose location of brackets, preferably on wall studs and make level marks for screws (40" max. span between brackets). See angle table below for distance from screw to the bottom of the shelf.
  • 2. Install brackets to wall.

On Stud: Pre-drill hole, hold wall fitting in place with the round back plate as shown (diagram second from top), and screw in the supplied fastner until the fittings are tight to the wall. (When properly installed: 100lb. capacity)

Hollow Wall: Use a 3/16"x3" toggle bolt. Put the toggle bolt through wall fitting and the round back plate. Install and tighten until fittings are tight to the wall. (When properly installed: 75lb. capacity)

Cement or Other Material: Use proper fasteners. (When properly installed: 100lb. capacity)

  • 3. Hang shelf. Put U-channels on back and front of shelf as shown (3rd diagram from the top), drop cap fitting onto wall fitting (making sure that they are properly aligned and fitted), and level shelf (front to back) by pulling cable from below and pushing the shelf down into place.  Note: The peel and stick inserts supplied are used to decrease the opening of U-channels for use with thinner shelves. Apply them to the inside of the channels before hanging the shelf.

Tip: Before putting up the shelf, measure and mark the shelf where the U-channels will be from each end of the shelf (see the bottommost diagram). Also hold the shelf at its approximate final installation height while looping the cable around. This will ease in the final adjustment of the brackets.

Note: The weight capacities listed vary based on the strength of the shelving material, the distance between brackets, load distribution, and the type, condition, and thickness of wall board. The weight capacity will decrease on shelves deeper than 12". It is always better to install brackets properly on wall studs (especially for heavy loads).
